No. Colds are caused by viruses and so antibiotics, which only treat bacteria, will not work on colds. Evidence has shown that antibiotics have no beneficial effect on treating the common cold. (See the Cochrane Review 'Antibiotics for the Common Cold').Taking antibiotics for a cold may help to contribute to antibiotic resistance as use of antibiotics is associated with development of resistance.
